Review your courses by April 24, 2026
New federal Title II regulations require all public institutions, including Indiana University, to ensure that digital materials meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards by April 24, 2026. This applies to all course materials created and delivered through IU Expand.
To help you prepare, please review the minimum digital accessibility guidelines for IU courses, including foundational requirements for documents, images, and other instructional materials. These guidelines outline essential practices such as providing descriptive titles, using structured documents, and ensuring alternative text for visuals.
Anthology Ally in Canvas
We strongly encourage you to use Anthology Ally, which automatically checks for accessibility issues and provides guidance for improving your materials. While no automated tool can verify all digital requirements, Ally can help you fix many of the issues in your content.
IU-Approved Technology Tools
To ensure digital accessibility and security, please use only tools listed in IU’s approved technology tool finder.
